EURO 2008 in Poznań
Friday, 13 June 2008 15:33
The European Football Championship has just begun in the football fields of Austria and Switzerland.
Polish fans are greatly interested in his event. It is the first time that the Polish national team plays in the EURO.
After the Polish team qualified for the finals of the European Championship the interest in football surpassed all experts’ expectations. In total several hundred thousand fans wanted to see the matches with the Polish team during EURO 2008 live. However, only about a dozen thousand of them got a ticket and will be able to see the games during EURO 2008 with their own eyes.
Watching matches and football events in groups has become a Polish tradition. Guests of Poznań’s pubs will be able to follow the matches of the Polish representation on big TV screens, which at least partly convey the atmosphere of a real stadium. Also, it will be possible to watch football games on a big screen in one of Poznań’s cinemas.
For the time of championship two “beer towns” will appear in Poznań. Two competing breweries have built such sites in the heart of Poznań – one on Plac Wolności and one in Park Marcinkowskiego, next to the railway station and the University of Economics. Fan sites are open from early morning until very late at night. The most ardent fans may even live there! In the evening all guests watch  the subsequent EURO 2008 matches together.
