VIII Poznan Marathon
Friday, 02 November 2007 19:28
Paul Tangu from Kenya won the VIII Poznan Marathon.
The runner finished in a time of 2 hours, 16 minutes and 24 seconds. He was only several dozen seconds from breaking the route record.
The Poznan Marathon once again turned out to be the largest event of its kind in Poland. At the start line there were 2773 runners, roller skaters and camera trolley operators, of whom 2322 runners, 296 roller skaters and 9 cameramen made it to the finish line. In this way, the previous Polish record in marathon running was broken. In fact, no other race at this distance in Poland has ever gathered so many runners. All along the race course, the runners were accompanied by crowds of fans, mainly consisting of the inhabitants of Poznan. A Kenyan, Paul Tangus, proved to be the fastest. Second at the finish line was a Pole, Radoslaw Dudycz, and another Kenyan, David Ndegwa, was third in the race. Unfortunately, the winner of the race once again did not manage to cover the distance in less than 2 hours and 15 minutes. An extra award, a car, was then drawn amongst all the runners that had finished the race.  Fortune smiled on a marathon runner that entered the competition in Poznan for the first time.
