Nearly 1500 persons have registered to take part in the 8th Poznań Marathon.
The Marathon is the biggest event of its kind in Poland and is scheduled to be held on the 14th of October, 2007. In accordance with tradition, the Marathon route is set to start from the Maltańskie Lake and lead up through the city centre, past the town hall, then through the city suburbs and finally back to the Lake, which marks the race finish. The competitors will have to complete two rounds of this course. The race participants will have a chance to take part in a lottery, in which the main prize is a car. Apart from the marathon, other races will also be held during the event. This year, there will be 5 and 10 km races with roller-bladers having the opportunity to complete a route of just over 21 km. Other sports events held on the day include: the Championship of Poland in marathon running, the Junior Championship of Poland and also the Scout Championship of Poland in marathon running.
