For the first time in over 20 years Poznań hosted the Polish Championships in Athletics.

Over 400 of the best Polish athletes participated in the competitions. They contended in 45 athletic events. For some of the competitors it was the last chance to fulfil the minimal requirements entitling them to take part in the World Championships in Athletics. This year the World Championships will take place in August and September in the Japanese city of Osaka.
