The fencer Bogna Jóźwiak received an Individual Sports Award from the city for 2006.

The award was granted to Jóźwiak by a special charter that evaluates the previous year's performances of Poznań’s athletes. In 2006 Bogna Jóźwiak won among others: 3rd place (individual) and 2nd place (team) at the European Senior Championship, 1st place during the World Cup in Belgium, 3rd place during the Senior World cup in Russia as well as 1st place individual and team at the Polish Senior Championship and 1st place during the Polish Senior Cup.
The charter also honoured Roman Pięta – coach of the University Sports Club at the Educational Centre for Disabled Children and Teenagers in Poznań. Roman Pięta is said to be the best instructor in volleyball in the country.
