It is probable that Poznań will hold a knock-out tournament for the Olympic Games in free-style wrestling.

The tournament is scheduled to take place at the beginning of May next year. Poznań is one of the candidates for its organization. Other candidates include: Warsaw and Wrocław. The authorities of Poznań proposed that wrestling could take place in the biggest sports hall – Arena. The fights could be seen by a few thousand spectators.
Within the next couple of weeks the vice-president of FILA – the World Wrestling Federation, the Greek Theodoros Hamakos, will come to Poznań. He will evaluate the condition of the Arena hall and hotel accommodations offered by Poznań. The decision concerning which city will hold the tournament will be taken after his visit to Poland.
