Brendan Venter – a member of South African rugby national team and a former coach of the London Irish team visited Poznań for a week.
Venter was invited by the Poznań Brewery Company, which is a patron of the first-league Posnania Poznań rugby team. Brendan Venter was born on 29th December 1969 in Johannesburg. He played with the South African national team 17 times and represented the country between 1994 and 1999. With the Springbok team he won the World Cup in 1995. Four years later, he also took part in the finals of the tournament. Venter’s international career began in 1994, when he studied medicine at the University of the Orange Free State in South Africa. Training and frequent journeys didn’t stop him from graduating from the University and getting the title of a medical doctor, which he says is really helpful in his work as a coach. Medicine is still his great passion. In 2001-2003, Venter played in and coached the London Irish, the English Guinness Premiership team. Last year, he coached The African Leopards, the African Rugby Association team. ![]() Brendan Venter in a spectacular action (BBC Sport) |
