Poland and Ukraine are not merely competing for the right to organize the Football European Championship in 2012.

The situation is gaining in complexity. A couple of weeks ago, the Polish Sports Minister suspended the whole management board of the Polish Football Association, justifying his move by citing the widespread corruption that apparently ran deep in the organization. The minister revealed that his accusations involved a number of well known football administrators and referees. However, the minister’s decision has been so far rejected by both UEFA and FIFA. The matter has now been left to lawyers. Meantime we are still hoping that the winner and the future organizer of 2012 Championship will be announced on 18 April.
