Construction of a new modern Poznań speedway stadium is to consume several dozens of millions zlotys.
The idea to build the facility came from the activists of the “PSŻ Milion Team Poznań (Million Team Poznań Speedway Association)” club. The club’s team has just moved up to the second speedway league. However, the team plans to reach the super-league, which features the Polish and European top notch speedway riders. ![]() However, the speedway stadium, where the riders practice, is a major issue. The facility located in the Golęciński Forest does not meet the standards for modern complexes of this type. The reconstruction costs may outbalance the value of a new stadium. Hence, the initiative to build from scratch cropped up. The former football stadium in the Dębiec districts, situated close to the Cegielski plants and railway track to Wrocław, will serve as the investment base. Until the early 80s, the Lech Poznań football teams played their matches there. However, for the past years the stadium has been left in rack in ruin. The city authorities declared their aid in the stadium reconstruction. It is also possible that the speedway club will apply for the European Union subsidies. ![]() |
