The Chinese city of Shenzhen is currently holding the 26th Summer Universiede, i.e. the student sportsmen Olympic Games. The organizers are expecting a record number of participants this year, as the program of the univeriede has been extended to include additional twelve disciplines (apart from twelve obligatory ones).
The Polish representation consists of 211 people (including 150 sportspeople) and takes part in 16 disciplines (athletics, women’s basketball, fencing, artistic gymnastics, swimming, diving, tennis, women’s volleyball, judo, shooting, sailing, golf, chess, beach ball, taekwondo and weight lifting).
In spite of the fact that rowing and canoeing are not part of the Olympics, Wielkopolska region and Poznań are represented by a strong group of 15 sportspeople. Five of them are students of The Adam Mickiewicz University. |
