Friday, 26 August 2011 13:50
The Poznań team won in the subsequent edition of the “Eurogeneration 2012” young football talents tournament. Young footballers from Poznań defeated the Gdańsk team 1-0. The team from Warsaw ranked number three while the one from Cracow took the fourth position.

The idea of the “Eurogeneration 2012” came up in 2005 when Poland and Ukraine applied for the grant to organize the UEFA EURO 2012™. Since then the tournament has become a fixed element of Polish and Ukrainian events as an essential feature of the promotional activities of our co-candidacy. The tournaments were held subsequently in Cracow, Wroclaw, Kiev, Lviv Oblast, Gdańsk and Lviv.

260 sportsmen representing 12 cities participated in the following edition of the tournament, which has taken place recently in Poznań.

Wojciech Szczęsny, the current goalkeeper of Arsenal F.C., is one of the footballers who played his first professional games in the EUROGENERATION 2012. Six Polish teams (Chorzów, Gdańsk, Cracow, Poznań, Warsaw and Wroclaw) and six Ukrainian (Kharkiv, Dnepropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kiev, Lviv and Odessa) took part in the tournament.

Teenage boys born in 1997 and 1998 played in the 2011 edition. Representations, divided into four groups with three teams in each, played in mixed system. 24 matches were played in total.
