Friday, 10 June 2011 15:21

What does the city voluntary service consist in? Who can become a volunteer? Answers to these questions can be found at a special portal www.wolontariatmiejski2012.pl, prepared within the framework of the Host – Cities Voluntary Service UEFA EURO 2012™ project.

Already in October, the portal will be used to recruit approximately 3 thousand volunteers. A special section dedicated to recruitment will be launched for this purpose. It will serve to register electronic applications of persons interested in working in the Host Cities as a volunteers at EURO 2012, to prove their English skills, select candidates and invite selected person to interviews. The recruitment via electronic forms will end in the first quarter of 2012, and subsequently interviews with particular candidates will take pace.

Training for the volunteers will be organized in May 2012. The portal will allow for the creation of individual profiles that will enable the users to access personalized, detailed information concerning the programme and the training schedule.

Around 600 volunteers will be working in Poznań. Volunteers in Poznań will support fans, journalists and city inhabitants participating in the celebration connected with the tournament. They will provide support for the airport, railway station, in the neighborhood in the Stadium, in the Fan Zone, Fans’ Embassies, near medical establishments estimated to service Euro 2012 as well as in city’s main transportation points, e.g. in the city centre and on the way from the Fan Zone to the stadium.

Not only has the proper preparation of the country in terms of the infrastructure decided whether such mass events as Euro 2012 will become a success or not. The UEFA EURO 2012 Host Cities Voluntary Service is one of the most important organizational projects implemented within Poland’s preparation for Euro 2012.
