The decision on Football Fan Zone is already known. “Plac Wolnosci is the best place”, thinks professor Jacek Zak from Logistics Institute of the Poznan University of Technology. “I am sure that UEFA will accept our proposition”, adds mayor – Ryszard Grobelny. Decision on the Football Fan Zone in Poznan has been taken after careful examination. The scientists from the Poznan University of Technology were taking under consideration five locations: International Poznan Fair, Plac Wolnosci, the park at the Malta Lake, the Kasprowicz park and the Jan Pawel II park (Legi Debinskie). “Each area was being assessed with regard to the security and attractiveness for the city, potential sponsors and residents. We were taking into consideration the distance to the city centre and the accessibility with means of transport. Plac Wolnosci was rated the best.”, underlines professor Jacek Zak. In the Football Fan Zone football fans will be able to watch all the matches of the European Football Championships UEFA EURO 2012. It is estimated that in the Fan Zone 20,000 people will have chance to watch matches on the wall screens. “We expect that the matches of the Polish national team and the teams which will be playing on the Poznan stadium will meet with the greatest interest. Then we are ready to host even 35,000 of viewers”, was explaining mayor Ryszard Grobelny. The organization of the Football Fan Zone is to cost 20 million zloty. ” UEFA will participate in the costs. The zone will also be financed by sponsors”, assured Katarzyna Parysek, the project coordinator. “After the Championships, Theatre Festival “Malta” will probably take place in Plac Wolnosci”, added Poznan’s mayor. |
