As a Host City of the UEFA EURO 2012, Poznan may use its own logo designed especially to promote the city in the context of the EURO 2012.
UEFA has unveiled the composite logos, and cities' mayors have signed a document of cooperation with UEFA regarding marketing guidelines and official Fan Zones. Cities? new identification marks consist of the official UEFA EURO 2012 logo and a unique element associated with the city. The logos will be a key visual element representing each Host City. They will be used for promotional purposes in the period prior to the UEFA EURO 2012 and will be increasingly more visible as we will approach the football feast.
Marketing guidelines and identification marks are a key part of collaboration as they permit Host Cities to enjoy a wide range of promotion opportunities.
The promotion will also involve establishment of the Fan Zones. The idea is to transfer the atmosphere of the match from the stadium to the heart of Poznan, and to invite the fans who do not have the EURO 2012 tickets to experience the football festival while watching the matches of the UEFA EURO 2012 in large outdoor screens.
?From now on the logos will be visible in the streets, signalling that the UEFA EURO 2012 is coming,? said Grzegorz Lato, President of the Polish Football Association, formerly one of the best Polish players and the best scorer of the World Cup in 1974.
The logo of Gdansk features the statue of Neptune, the god of the seas, standing in the heart of the city. Poznan's logo is based on the shape of a ball formed by a few stars, including one blue star, alluding to the consolidated symbol of Poznan's quality. Warsaw's tradition is reflected in the Mermaid - a symbol of the city, while Wrocław has shown the famous Most Grunwaldzki bridge.
Martin Kallen, from UEFA Events SA said ?This is a milestone in the preparations for the UEFA EURO 2012. It means that fans will be warmly welcomed in Polish Host Cities. Everyone will be able to see the beauty of Polish cities. I'm sure the EUROs will be a great success.? |
