11th Poznań Marathon

For the 11th time the streets of Poznan have seen thousands of runners participating in the Poznań Marathon. The race was attended by 3972 runners representing 23 countries, who covered the distance of 42 kilometres and 195 metres. 3871 people have successfully completed the race. The finishing line was first crossed by a Kenyan Isaack Waweru Macharia, whose time was 2 hours, 16 minutes and 27 seconds, just 3 minutes short of breaking the record of the route.

The following positions on the finishing line were won by: Haile Tesfaye from Ethiopia (the second place); Philemon Kimaiyo from Kenya (the third position). The best runner from Poland was Michał Smalec, who won the 4th position. The fastest among women was Belarusian Maryna Damantsevich.

Another edition of the Poznań Marathon will be held on the 16th of October 2011. In the meantime, the runners will have an opportunity to try their hand at the 4th Poznań Half-Marathon, held on the 3rd of April 2011.
