Poznan hosted representatives of Russia who entered the European Summer Special Olympic Games in Poland. Earlier, a relay with Fire of Hope passed through the city as part of the ?Run with a Torch of the Guardians of the Right for Special Olympic Games?.

As an official partner of the 2010 European Summer Special Olympic Games, the City of Poznan hosted 120 representatives from Russia who took part in the national programme of Special Olympic Games. Traditionally, representations of  particular states visit the host cities of the Olympic Games before contests are officially opened. While staying in the capital of Wielkopolska, the Russian sportsmen not only used Poznan's sports venues but also went sightseeing around Poznan and its surroundings. Subsequently, Russian guests left Poznan for Warsaw, which several days ago hosted the European Summer Special Olympic Games.
