Football players from Poznan have advanced to the group stage of the UEFA Europa League. The results they achieved in the decisive matches with Dnipro Dniepropietrowsk were: 1-0 away from home and 0-0 in Poland.

They are now waiting for matches with Juventus F.C., Manchester City F.C. and Salzburg F.C. Strong opponents, but the authorities at Lech Poznan are glad that they will play host to such outstanding teams. The competition between Lech and the major stars of Italian and English football will undoubtedly draw crowds of fans to Poznan. The matches will take place at the newly-commissioned Poznan Municipal Stadium that, as early as at the end of September, will open its gates to nearly 40,000 football fans. It is estimated that the profits from TV broadcasts and ticket sales may amount to PLN 8-10 million, which will be a considerable cash injection for the Lech Poznan Club.
