With only weeks before the next edition of the Poznan Marathon, expectations are high when it comes to the several thousand runners who will appear on the start line in Poznan on the 11th of October.
This year’s race will follow a new itinerary. Preparations took several months, as suggestions of runners themselves were taken into consideration when mapping out the new route. The start and finish line will still be located at Lake Malta, but before crossing the latter, participants will dash into the city centre, and then south around the green areas on the banks of the Warta River. Each runner will have to run two loops. Two long uphill sections of the itinerary have been eliminated, having proven too difficult for amateurs. According to specialists, the new route is flatter, and therefore good results, such as 2 hours and 10 minutes, are more likely. The record of the original route was set at 2 hours and 15 minutes.
