An athlete from Poznan, Szymon Ziółkowski, has won a silver medal in hammer throwing at the 12th Athletic World Championships in Berlin.
Ziółkowski's score - 79.80 cm (his best score this season) - allowed him to beat Russian rival, Aleksey Zagorny, yet proved too little to win against the currently very fit Slovenian, Primoz Kozums. For Szymon Ziółkowski, it was yet another medal won during such a serious event. His achievements already include: a gold medal at the Olympic Games in Sydney 2000 and the title of World Champion, won in 2001 in Edmonton. |
