For the last few days, Poznan has been the world capital of rowing. The regatta track on the Malta Lake has been hosting the World Championships in this discipline.
It is the biggest international sports event held this year in Poland.
Several hundred competitors representing 44 countries from around the world took their places on the starting line of the Poznan championships. The first races took place on Sunday, the 23rd of August. However, the biggest emotions are still ahead. This weekend, we will see the semi-final and final races, after which we will know who are the best rowers in the world. Rowing races can be watched at Malta Lake everyday from 9:30 am to the late afternoon hours. Inhabitants of Poznan could already feel the taste of rivalry among rowers a few days ago, when “a Rowing Village” was erected in the city centre. In the village, everyone was invited to have a go on a rowing ergometre. |
