Almost 30,000 people simultaneously dribbled the ball in seven different Polish cities. With this effort, they set the new Guinness world record.
Only 5,000 people were required to beat the previous record, but there were many who wanted to make the attempt. Dribbling started exactly at 12.45 in the seven cities which will hold the European Basketball Championship in September. Children, teenagers and adults dribbled the ball in Katowice, Łódź, Bydgoszcz, Gdansk, Warsaw, Wroclaw and Poznan. All of them had to dribble the ball for five minutes. It was not an easy task but in the end, it was carried out beautifully.
The Polish Basketball Association and the EuroBasket 2009 Polish Organising Committee, together with the International Basketball Federation, used this event as a starter for the action of handing out 170,000 basketballs to Polish schools.
