Poznan organises street football World Cup
Friday, 19 June 2009 02:00
Poznan will be organising the World Cup in street football in 2013. The City had previously tried to organise the 2011 Cup, but that honour was won by Paris.

Street Football is a discipline practised in particular by the homeless. It can be played anywhere that a pitch 18 x 22 meters surrounded with bands can be set up.

Street Football is played in 60 countries all over the world and each year, the World Cup is organised. For few years now, Poland has taken part in this international championship and achieved some success in it. In 2007 in Copenhagen the Polish team won the silver medal, and each year the event gets bigger.
The idea behind street football is to popularise and activate socially different environments around football, one of the most popular sporting disciplines.

Organisation of such an event and broadcasting of it to several dozen countries is, for the host city as well as for the whole country, a big promotion through a very honourable idea.
This year’s world cup will be held in Milan, between the 6th and 13th of September, and the next in Rio de Janeiro.
