The Poznan Malta regatta course has again played host to the best canoeists in the world as the second of three World Cup canoeing competitions has taken place in Poznan. The World Cup in Poznan is always very popular among competitors and this year almost 400 participants representing 39 countries took part in the event, including some of last year’s Olympic medallists. Contestants competed over 500, 1,000 and 5,000 metre distances. The Poznan competition is one of the World Championships’ qualification contests, the finals of which will be held in Darthmount, Canada, in August.

The best Polish crew turned out to be the women’s K-2 composed of Małgorzata Chojnacka and Sandra Pawełczak who won the 1,000 metre race. The second Polish crew on the podium was a Canadian canoe four composed of Skowroński, Toński, Woszczyński and Rynkiewicz.
The honorary guest, the President of the International Canoe Federation José Perurena López, declared that the competition was organised at the highest world level.
The next competition to be held at Poznan Malta will be the U23 European Junior Championships, beginning on the 15th of July.
