Matches played by Lech Poznań in the UEFA Cup have been slightly overshadowed by other events held in Poznań.

 

Lech Poznań, after having eliminated Grasshoppers Zurich and Austria Vienna amongst others, has qualified for the group stage of the UEFA Cup. In this stage, each team has four matches to play – two as host and two as guest.
Two matches in Poznań have already taken place. In November, Lech Poznań drew 2-2 with the French team AS Nancy and drew 1-1 playing against the Spanish Deportivo La Coruna. In their first match as guests, played in Moscow, the Poznań team were defeated by Moscow’s CSKA 2-1.
The match crucial to possible promotion to the next stage will be played by Lech against Feyenoord in Rotterdam. If they win by at least two goals, Lech will be promoted to the next round of the games, which will be played at the end of February/ beginning of March.
