Poznań wants to become a training centre for volunteers who will work during UEFA EURO 2012.

 

Proper organisation of the tournament requires the participation of a few hundred people, including many volunteers. They will be responsible for providing assistance in the zones for supporters, directing and informing supporters on their way to the matches, helping to prepare the stadium for the sports events etc. The duties of volunteers will be varied and require many skills, such as command of a few foreign languages. That is why plans for creating a well-functioning base of volunteers have already been introduced. Poznań wants to become a training centre for Euro volunteers on a national scale.

A new approach to the development of voluntary services in Poznań has been the objective of the “Voluntary Services Worth Poznań” project that is currently being implemented. Within the framework of the project, the phenomenon of voluntary services will be carefully analysed from the perspective of opportunities for its development. Comprehensive analysis of voluntary services in Wielkopolska will be conducted. The analysis should reveal the current number of volunteers and assess how many volunteers there could be in the future, answer what motivates them the most and determine where they are most needed, whether it is in organisations, offices or social assistance institutions.
