Mathew Kosgei, a runner from Kenia, won the 9th edition of the Poznań Marathon.
When winning, Kosgei set a new record for the course: 2 hours 13 minutes and 45 seconds, breaking the previous record by nearly 2 minutes. He was awarded PLN 20,000 (approx. € 6,000) for winning the marathon and got a new car for breaking the course record. The next two places were also taken by runners from Kenia: Julio Kilimo and John Mutai. The fastest runner from Poland, Marcin Fehlau, finished in fourth place. Among women, the fastest was the Pole Arleta Meloch, whose time was 2 hours 38 minutes and 22 seconds. This year’s marathon was also a record in terms of the number of participants. There were over 3 thousand runners from Poland and abroad. When summing up the event, we can see that the Poznań Marathon is still the largest event of its kind in Poland. |
