Only a few days are left before the start of the 9th Poznań Marathon. It is one of the largest running events in Poland.
Each year nearly three thousand runners from all over the world take part in the event. This year the start is scheduled for October 12. As usual, it will be a 42-kilometre run on the streets of Poznań (each runner will have to complete two loops of just over 20 kilometres). The route goes from the Lake Malta area downtown and to the old town. From there the participants will run to the outskirts (near the Volkswagen car plant) and back to Lake Malta. The winner, apart from a money prize, will receive a new car. An additional requirement though is to complete the marathon in a time under 2 hours and 15 minutes. If the winner fails to reach this time, the car will be drawn in a lottery among all those who complete the run. No one has won the Poznań Marathon in a time below 2 hours and 15 minutes yet. ![]() |
