Austria Vienna will be the opponent of Lech Poznań in the next round of the UEFA Cup.

The first match between these teams will be held in Vienna on 18th September. The return match is scheduled for two weeks after the first meeting and will take place in Poznań. Lech advanced to this round by eliminating two teams: Chazar Lenkoram from Azerbaijan and Grasshoppers Zurich from Switzerland (in Poznań, Lech Poznań defeated the Swiss 6-0). At stake in the doubleheader with Austria Vienna is a place in the UEFA Cup group phase.
Austria Vienna was created in 1910, which makes it 12 years older than Lech Poznań. Until now, Vienna players have won the Austrian Championship 23 times and the national cup 26 times. In 1978, the Austrian team played in the finals of the European Cup Winners’ Cup.
