Aneta Konieczna, a canoeist from Posnania Poznań, was the only representative of Poznań to win a medal at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

Konieczna and her team-mate, Beata Mikołajczak, won a silver medal in the race over 500 metres.
This is yet another Olympic medal for Aneta Konieczna. Previously, she won two bronze medals, during the Olympic Games in Sydney (2000) and in Atlanta (1996).
