Pet Jōnsson comes from Malmö in Sweden, but for the last two years lives and studies medical sciences in Poznań. He shares his opinions with the You Are in Poznań on his stay in Poznań.

- There are so many beautiful places in the world, why did you choose Poznań?
I have always travelled a lot. Few years ago I decided to study abroad. I did not precise my plans though. My friend, who has some Polish roots started studying on the Poznań University of Medical Sciences. After a year, I asked him how he is doing with his Polish language. This is when I found out that the studies in Poznań are conducted in English language. That helped me decide to come to Poznań and study medical sciences in here.

- Were you not afraid to come to Poland?
It is true that a common opinion about Poland in Sweden is not too good. Poland is considered a sad and grey country. Nevertheless afer coming to Poland I found it totally not true. Surely you can find some unattractive places in here, but for those last 2 years I have noticed many changes for better. Poznań is a regular, modern European city. It is not lacking anything.

- What do you like the most about Poznań?
The Old Market Square of course. I really love the atmosphere of the pubs and beer gardens located there. It is a perfect place to have fun and meet cool people.

- What do you think about Poznań residents? It is often said that they are not fun, they are closed and it is difficult to make friends with them?
So what should you say about the Swedish then? That is us who are really introvert. I think that Poznań residents are really friendly, fun and hospitable. I haven’t noticed differently. I have many friends among Poznań residents. Those are cool people.

- We are speaking English, haven’t you learned to speak Polish for the last two years?
I tried, during studies I even had a quite intensive Polish language course. Unfortunately this language is too difficult for me. I understand a lot, I know basic phrases, but I cannot talk.

- Your interests are not restricted to the medical sciences only. You also have a very interesting hobby: designing the t-shirt screen prints.
Yes, even before I started studying in Poznań, I worked for an advertising agency back in Sweden and I designed t-shirts. This is a great fun. I love, when the print conveys a message, and is not only a visual ornament. I design shirts for myself and my friends. Currently I also cooperate with a German company in that field. I send them my designs over the Internet, and they choose some of them for realisation.

- Do you have any idea for a t-shirt connected with Poznań?
I though about that. I would put some characteristic building from Poznań on it, maybe even a city hall. Although I have not designed anything yet.

- Would you recommend Poznań to your friends from Sweden?
Certainly. Some of my friends and my family have already visited me. All of them liked Poznań very much.

- Do you plan to stay in Poznań after university graduation?
Unfortunately not. I took out a loan for studying, therefore after graduation I will have to work in Sweden or Norway. Nevertheless I will be coming back to Poznań. Such an atmosphere as that found in the Poznań Old Market Square is unmatchad.
