Once again Poznan has topped the Rzeczpospolita daily’s prestigious ranking of the best communes in Poland. The ranking is based on both hard economic data and the management efficiency of a given commune. The evaluation process and its supervision are carried out by a high-profile jury led by Professor Jerzy Buzek, President of the European Parliament. Sopot was second on the list, while Wrocław came third.
Poznan also ranked third in the category of Most innovative commune within the group of Polish cities with district rights. In this category, the criterion was the level of modernity of management methods. Poznan topped the Rzeczpospolita ranking in 2009, 2008, 2007 and 2005 (in 2006, the city did not enter the competition).
