Poland was an honoured guest at this year’s Property Fair in Cannes. The Fair was particularly important to our country due to yet another reason – all the host cities of the EURO 2012 h
“For the first time, several large Polish cities, in this case the EURO 2012 host cities, were able to reach an agreement. Having created a common stand, we have been promoting places for investment,” explains Sebastian Bedekier, the director of Investor Relations Department at the City of Poznan. The stand shared by four, or rather five cities (Sopot was being presented together with Gdansk) all related to football, looked like a playing field. However, each city has prepared its own investment offer. “The main emphasis was put on the areas which could be used as multi-storey underground car parks”, explains a specialist from the Department of Economic Policy of the City Hall of Gdansk. Gdansk authorities have also been promoting allotments situated near the Baltic Arena stadium. “We have also been showing 9,000 m2 of commercial facilities under the stadium’s dome”, adds a representative of the City Hall of Gdansk. Additionally, an area for a new conference centre in the Tri-City has also appeared in the offer. By contrast, Wroclaw has mainly promoting its hotels. The offer presented by Wroclaw included places primarily assigned to the construction of luxurious hotels. Warszawa has also been promoting various areas related not only to EURO 2012, and Poznan has prepared a rich offer of investment areas. Two allotments, located in the very centre of Poznan (ul. 27 Grudnia) and a car park by the Polish Theatre, appeared among them. In December, Poznan was trying to sell this area for PLN 50 million by settling the tender but nobody was interested in buying it. Now the price has been lowered to PLN 40 million. There are also some lands located in Marcelin, near the City Stadium, and at the so-called Gospoda targowa situated near ul. Grunwaldzka, ul. Sowińskiego, ul. Księżycowa. In total Poznan has presented 12 Properties assigned to various kinds of investment. Except for Poznan, 9 cities and communes from Wielkopolka have participated in the Property Fair in Cannes. The Marshal Office has been promoting the whole region as an excellent place for investment. The MIPIM Property Fair in Cannes is the largest investment and Property fair in Europe. Its participants are the world’s largest Property and direct investment companies, customers who are looking for service or manufacturing areas, as well as representatives of countries and cities that are in search of investors from all over the world. |
