Scientists from Sudan visited the Adam Mickiewicz UniversityThe AMU has signed a cooperation agreement with the National Corporation for Antiquities and Museums of Sudan (NCAM) in Khartoum, Sudan. Delegation of NCAM and the National Museum in Khartoum stayed in Poznań.

The first season of the Polish-Sudanese archaeological and ethnological project took place in the Nile Valley and the North Kurdufan in January and February 2011. This expedition is the beginning of a three-year research project, which is organized by the Adam Mickiewicz University Institute of Prehistory and the National Corporation for Antiques and Museums of Sudan. The project involves staff as well as students of Polish and Sudanese scientific institutions. Apart from archaeologists, there will also be ethnologists and geodesists.

The scientists from AMU not only conducted research, but also donated school supplies to one of the Sudanese schools. Next expeditions are already planned, and the agreement between our University and NCAM pertains to the scientific research in Sudan. The second of the elements of the agreement will concern the education of Polish and Sudanese students and scientists. The agreement assumes the possibility of a scholarship exchange between the AMU and the NCAM, as well as field trainings in Sudan for Polish and Sudanese students and researchers.
