Almost 1.7 thousand foreigners from 83 countries in the world are studying in Poznań. The countries include such exotic places as Oman, Sri Lanka, Cameroon, Uruguay or Mauritius.
Every second foreign student comes from a European country, every fourth from Northern America, and every fourth from Asia. The majority of students come from United States, Taiwan, Norway, Germany, Canada, Belarus and Ukraine. Poznań is a city mainly chosen to study medicine, economy and engineering. Foreigners study mainly at the Poznań University of Medical Sciences, which currently teaches over 1.0 thousand people. Around 230 foreigners study at the Poznań Adam Mickiewicz University, 60 at the Poznań University of Economics and about 45 foreigners study at the Poznań University of Technology. Nearly 90 individuals study at the Academy of Hotel Management and Catering Industry. Medical studies are the most popular among young Americans, Taiwanese, Canadians and Norwegians. Studying at the Adam Mickiewicz University seems interesting to young people from Belarus, Ukraine and Kazakhstan, economic faculties attract Belarusians, Ukrainians, Russians and the Chinese, and young Germans and Ukrainians wish to gain the degree of an engineer. |
