The Golden Prize of the CELTIC Plus Initiative was awarded to the international EUREKA/CELTIC WINNER + project. The project involved the Chair of Wireless Communication, the Faculty Electronics and Telecommunications, Poznań University of Technology. The WINNER + project whose implementation was completed in 2010 was preceded by two consecutive projects of the 6th Framework Programme of the European Union: WINNER I and II (Wireless World Initiative New Radio). In the WINNER + project co-financed by the amount of EUR 13 million, 27 organizations from 9 countries took part. The project was coordinated by Dr Werner Mohr from Nokia Siemens Networks in Munich. Under the project, an impressive number of 59 official documents were developed, sent to the International Telecommunication Union - Radiocommunication Sector (ITU-R), 3GPP standardization consortium (Third Generation Partnership Project) and European standardization bodies. The jury of the EUREKA/CELTIC Initiative particularly appreciated the contribution of the WINNER + project consortium in development of the 4G communication systems technology. |
