The City has announced a list of research projects in Poznan universities that receive funding from the City budget. In 2011 the Commission selected 9 projects from among the proposals submitted by the colleges. The total amount of subsidies from the budget of the City of Poznan amounted to PLN 250.000 (over 60 thousand euros). One of the main factors determining the choice of the projects was the usefulness for the city in terms of implementation of the results.

Scientists, who carry out projects that are innovative and essential for the development of science and of the city, can apply for the funding of their research. The applications for funding are evaluated and recommended to the President by the Admissions Committee, composed of representatives from the scientific community and the City.
