Eight female students of English Philology majoring in the South African Studies at the Adam Mickiewicz University have set off for a Multi-University Trip from Poznań to the Republic of South Africa.
The Poznań students are planning to travel all over the Republic of South Africa until 20 February 2011. The Multi-University Trip includes visiting the main South African universities and starting collaboration between them and the AMU. The Multikulti programme covers a series of workshops on multiculturalism which the Poles is going to conduct in the South African schools.
While being in the Republic of South Africa, the students will communicate in two of eleven official languages in the country ?English or Africaans- which they are studying in a unique in Europe South African specialisation. They will throw in words in Zulu language, which they describe as ?extremely nice? and in Xhosa language, in which the name of the University African Circle founded by them means ?peace? and is pronounced with a tongue clicking at the beginning.
The Honorary Patronage of the trip has been taken by John Godson, the President of the African Institute in Poland and the first African member of the Polish parliament. The Multiversity Tour 2011 is also supported by the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa in Poland. |
