By 2014 all the districts in Wielkopolska will have been included in the Wielkopolska Broadband Network.

Wielkopolska Province, as the first region in Poland, gained private partners to realize the construction project of the Wielkopolska Broadband Network which is one of the key projects under Wielkopolska Regional Operational Programme. There are two companies from Poznań and Piła that will invest 60 million zlotys in the local government company Wielkopolska Sieć Szerokopasmowa S.A. This amount will constitute an own contribution necessary in order to realize an investment by means of EU funds. Thus, the project of the Network construction will be realized without commitment of the province local government resources.  The net value of the whole project amounts to almost 368 million zlotys.

According to the project, by 2014 there will have been constructed the IT infrastructure which will be a complement to the existing infrastructure belonging to different operators and which will fill the gap in the access to the next generation broadband. The investment includes the realization of a backbone network and a distribution network, together with 576 distribution nodes and backbone nodes located in all the cities that are seats of poviat.

Under the project, there will also be created a public administration network for administration departments including local government units. The network will cover the seats of all the districts within the area of the Wielkopolska Province and will provide connection for local governments and other public institutions.
