The Adam Mickiewicz University was recognised in the ranking of the German Centre for Higher Education - an independent organization monitoring European universities - which is published online by Die Zeit.
The assessment conducted in 2010 involved analysis of the faculties offering master's and doctoral studies. The rules involved an assessment of the faculties of all universities from 19 European countries that offer education in those fields of study. The eight indicators that were taken into account included: number of publications, citations, staff mobility, student mobility, participation in the Erasmus Mundus, Marie Curie projects and scholars? reputation (prizes, medals and grants from the European Research Council). In addition, two questionnaires were evaluated: an institutional questionnaire (completed by the faculty authorities) and student questionnaire. The best universities selected by this procedure were in the Excellence Group.
Three other Polish universities were similarly recognised: Warsaw University, Krakow's Jagiellonian University and Wroclaw University. The country that scored the best results Europe-wide was the United Kingdom. Among the best were seven British universities which proved to be "excellent" in all four research disciplines ranked this year.
The Faculty of Chemistry recognised in the ranking is one of fourteen faculties of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan and one of the best and largest university chemistry faculties in Poland. The high research and teaching position of the Faculty was also recognised by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, awarding the faculty with the highest (first) research rank, and the State Accreditation Committee, that in 2010 granted the faculty with a positive grade. In 2008, the Faculty of Chemistry was accredited by the University Accreditation Committee, and the students graduating from the faculty receive the Eurobachelor and Euromaster Label certificates. |
