Prominent specialists in the field of economics were the guests of the 17th annual Global Finance Conference which was held in Poznan. The conference was organised by the Poznan University of Economics.
This year the main subject of the conference was the global financial crisis and the future of capitalism. Among the invited guests were: Professor Leszek Balcerowicz ? former Head of the National Bank of Poland who first started to introduce market reforms in 1989, Danuta Hübner ? former European Commissioner for Regional Policy and Ludwik Sobolewski ? chairman of the Warsaw Stock Exchange. A key speaker at the conference was professor Robert Mundell, a Nobel laureate in Economics, often referred to as the ?father of the Euro?. Previously, the Global Finance Conference was held in Germany, Turkey, Canada, Australia and China. This year Poznan took on such a considerable challenge.
Both Mundell?s visit and his lecture were organized within the framework of the Academic Poznan programme. Each year the City of Poznan subsidises lectures of outstanding experts from all over the world within the framework of this programme. In recent months about 50 lectures have been delivered thanks to the programme. |
