Nearly 1,300 contestants from 79 countries took part in the 38th Canoe World Championship. For the 3rd time in its history, the Championship took place on Poznan’s regatta course at Malta Lake.

Some have oranges, others have tomatoes, while we have… potatoes, or pyry, the equivalent of British ‘taters. This inconspicuous bulb of indefinite colour and shape has become the symbol of the capital of Wielkopolska. That is why, during the first weekend of September, city residents will celebrate the day of their favourite veggie for the seventh time.

Poznan’s construction workers carried out an unusual project, which involved the relocation of a historic gate, which was situated within ulica Bukowska (now under refurbishment), i.e. the access route to Poznan Ławica Airport. The brick wall is a relic of the former Edwardowo farm.

Ministers of Culture from 43 countries will meet in Poznan during the ASEM conference, to be held from the 8th to the 10th of September. The conference will be accompanied by numerous exhibitions and concerts.

After this year’s unusually long and snowy winter and rainy spring, work on the construction of one of the largest water parks in Europe – Poznan’s Maltese Thermae – is picking up steam. In late June over 170 people worked on the park, and that is surely not all. Construction works are underway in all segments of this multi-functional building, i.e. in the sports swimming pools hall, the recreational part and in the administration section with shops, service points and eating places.
