There is no reason why a conversion of Sala Wielka (Great Hall) in Poznan should not be started. Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Bogdan Zdrojewski and the director of the ‘Zamek’ Culture Centre, Marek Raczak have signed an agreement on the conversion of the castle. Under the agreement, the ‘Zamek’ Culture Centre will receive PLN 30 million from the European funds.
”It will be both one of the most expensive and most wonderful projects in the field of culture”, said, shortly after signing the agreement, the Minister of Culture, Bogdan Zdrojewski. The Minister also said that the project was very well-planned and therefore there should be no problems with its implementation.

The monumental “Dworzec Letni” (the old railway station), located by the main railway in Poznan, was established more than 100 years ago.
The station was built for the German emperor, Wilhelm II, who refused to use the same railroad as his subjects (it was the time when Poznan was under Prussian rule).

The 3rd new luxurious office building will stand in Plac Andersa, near the Old Brewery (Stary Browar) and the Novotel Centrum Hotel. Andersia Business Centre is another joint initiative of Von der Heyden Group and the City of Poznan.
The first stage of the investment was the Poznan Financial Centre (Poznanskie Centrum Finansowe), completed in 2001, and the other – the Andersia Tower, constructed in 2007.

A construction of the Nickel BioCentrum will start in January 2011 in Złotniki, situated nearby Poznan. A modern Biotechnology Centre, meeting the European bio-safety standards, will be established within the Nickel Technology Park premises within 12 months.
In May the investment estimated for 21.5 million PLN received funding support from EU funds designed to support innovative enterprises of the Wielkopolska region. The Nickel BioCentrum is said to bring together Polish and foreign entities operating in the biotechnology industry.

Prominent specialists in the field of economics were the guests of the 17th annual Global Finance Conference which was held in Poznan. The conference was organised by the Poznan University of Economics.
This year the main subject of the conference was the global financial crisis and the future of capitalism. Among the invited guests were: Professor Leszek Balcerowicz – former Head of the National Bank of Poland who first started to introduce market reforms in 1989, Danuta Hübner – former European Commissioner for Regional Policy and Ludwik Sobolewski – chairman of the Warsaw Stock Exchange. A key speaker at the conference was professor Robert Mundell, a Nobel laureate in Economics, often referred to as the “father of the Euro”. Previously, the Global Finance Conference was held in Germany, Turkey, Canada, Australia and China. This year Poznan took on such a considerable challenge.
